Do you dream of traveling the world or spending your days on a farm, tucked away from the noise of the city? What about when you were a child—did you dream of becoming an astronaut or diving in the ocean or writing a book? Did you save a cardboard box from a television set or new refrigerator so you could climb inside and imagine a world of possibilities, sheltered from the strangeness and danger of the outside adult world?
Sometimes as adults, we stop dreaming. We step outside our cardboard boxes and allow our current circumstances to tell us how it is. We forget that we have the ability to dream, and to imagine a completely new future for ourselves and our families. There is power in thinking “inside the box,” and there is power in planning for a future that aligns with more of our dreams and possibilities. Our dreams provide the necessary motivation and inspiration to set important goals. We can use our “boxes” to dream of new futures, and we can also use boxes to help create those futures.
